3dB Waveguide Combiner/Divider

waveguide 3dB directional coupler is also called waveguide bridge. It is often used as waveguide 90 ° power distributor / synthesizer in microwave engineering. When used as a distributor, its output signal phase difference is 90 degrees, and when used as a synthesizer, its input signal phase difference is required to be 90 degrees. According to the location of the coupling window, it can be divided into H-plane bridge (narrow side coupling) and E-plane bridge (wide side coupling). The coupler with this structure can also realize unequal power distribution between 3-7db. Therefore, as a power distributor / synthesizer, corresponding products can be provided according to different requirements of users for distribution ratio. According to different structural shapes, it can be divided into I-type, U-type, X-type, Yu type and Y-type as shown

Feature

The waveguide 90° power divider has the following characteristics: the signal input from port A will be distributed and output at ports B and C, and the signal phase difference between B and C is 90 degrees, and the ports A and D are isolated; D port is usually connected to the load. When the coupling degree is 3dB, the output signal amplitudes of ports B and C are equal; for the narrow-side coupler power divider/combiner, the phase of the output signal of port C is 90 degrees delayed from the phase of the output signal of port B. For the power distribution of the wide-side coupler synthesizer/synthesizer, the phase of the output signal of port C is 90 degrees ahead of the phase of the output signal of port B.
